And anyone who thinks otherwise needs to think about what SIDs are and what they do. And the SIDs have NOTHING to do with want you are trying to get working. Unless you forced hardware pnp in sysprep before you ghosted, it wont help. Unless you are planning to change keys, user accounts, or general system info sysprep isnt the answer. Sysprep really won't do much for you in this situation (well it does a lot and can do a lot actually). Then disconnect the PATA drive for good measure and boot it back up.

Then reboot and ghost the win install over. In fact, connect the SATA as a spare drive, and make sure it is properly detected.

Your best bet is to hook up the old PATA drive (unless you formatted it already) and boot into windows and load the appropriate drivers for the SATA.

I believe it is in both the MSI manual and the readme for the nforce drivers. They are not native, and you need to install both of the drivers for them to operate properly.SATA storage and RAID class drivers.even if you aren't running raid, you need to have both drivers loaded. The nforce SATA ports are not embedded into the standard run o the mill XP (Pro or Home) disk. They don't load the drivers first and they image the drive over, and bam.windows has issues becuase the controller isn't properly detected. Only to enable them to use the new drive they just got. Quick question.did you load the SATA drivers before you ghosted the image over? I am not saying this is your problem, but a good many of these issues are becuase people had the SATA ports disabled. And no, Ghost works fine with SATA, and yes a repair install will work, just make sure you press F6 to load the proper drivers.which brings me to the part that might actually help you. I have seen this with my own two eyes on more than a couple of occasions.whether it works on reboot after ghosting HEAVILY depends on the chipset of the SATA controller (most intel 915 and above have no issues). And just because windows is starting to load, does not mean that it sees the drive properly. When the system services try to start using their SIDs of XYZ123-1000 and XYZ123-1001, they will fail their security authorization, because the system expects their SIDs to be PEG4555-1000 and PEG4555-1001. Let's assume the new SID prefix is PEG4555. When you first run SysPrep on the computer, SysPrep will change the system's SID prefix. The SIDs for those accounts are XYZ123-1000 and XYZ123-1001. Suppose, for example, that the SID for a system is XYZ123, and you create two new user accounts for system services to run on that system.

The computer uses this SID as a unique prefix for all the machine's local accounts. When you first install NT, the setup routine generates a unique SID. The reason the software becomes invalid is because of the way SID generators create SIDs. Any software you install before SysPrep generates a unique SID during the initial boot sequence will become invalid after SysPrep generates the new SID. SID generators need to know when to create the SIDs. Because SIDs are the heart of NT system security, SID generators must create unique SIDs correctly. NT uses SIDs to learn where actions originate and to determine whether those actions have authorization.

Additionally, certain software installations, such as third-party system services, might require the use of a unique ID if the service requires an account to run under. For example, when you create a user account, create a new user group, and join an NT system to a domain, the OS generates unique IDs.

First, NT generates many identifiers on the fly. Let's examine the pitfalls of cloning systems and generating SIDs outside a normal NT installation.

U won`t get that far because of the SATA driver problem. If u have those problems with a SYSPREP image, i suggest u install xp from cdrom, to setup partitions (active.), and run the ghost SYSPREP image again after u installed XP.īut the problems i am hearing must be definitly SID problems. I don`t think ghost 9 handles the SID problem.
